Spatial Sci CE3 Header




The primary goal of the Cyber-Enabled Earth Exploration Project is to develop and pilot test new, technology-embedded, inquiry-based, curricular materials for middle school science classes for the purpose of improving student engagement and achievement in science and technology. Each module is initiated by an authentic research experience in science and incorporates the use of Google Earth as a transformative data collection and analysis tool that builds student:

  • interest and engagement in earth systems science
  • content knowledge in earth systems science
  • technical skills using Google Earth and other internet-based resources
  • geographic awareness
  • critical thinking, writing, and math skills
  • science argumentation skills
  • self-efficacy in science and technology
  • science identity, and
  • understanding of the role of technology in science
