Teacher Resources : Project Guidelines

A Goowi Explorers Project should include the following:

I. Introduction
a. Problem statement – What is being studied and why it is important.
b. Research question(s) – What specific questions are being addressed.
c. Scope of research – What is the study area, time period covered, etc. (as appropriate to your study).
 
II. Methods
a. Description of the approach you will use and why it is logical.     
b. What data sources will be used.
c. How the data will be analyzed.
 
III. Results and Conclusions
a. Description of the results of the analysis.
b. Discussion of your major conclusions. What do your findings mean?
 
IV. Presentation
a. Google Earth overlays, placemarks, and balloons should be used to convey key aspects of the study design and results. For example, students might include an overlay map or outline of their study area, placemarks showing key sites, and placemark balloons with descriptions of their data. Place mark balloons can include images, videos, or graphics that describe important phenomena or data.

c. The presentation must be logically organized. The reader must know what to click on next and be able to follow along through the entire study.
d. All writing must be clear, concise, and free of spelling or grammatical errors.
 
V. References
a. All non‐original information must be properly cited.
b. All non‐original images must be properly cited.
